Garden

This is our garden "the garden" as we call it. Very clever name huh? ;) We spend a lot of our time here in the summer. It is a lot of work but also provides much entertainment and enjoyment, not to mention the food it puts on the table.
A few years ago, the summer before i was pregnant with Lyla, i decided i wanted to start gardening so Jason built me a little box off of the patio and i planted a few peppers, watermelon, squash, tomatos and green beans, it was so much fun, it kept me busy and the boys really loved helping me water, and when it came time to start harvesting our veggies thats when the real fun came! They dont so much love picking weeds and all that goes along with gardening but that will come, i hope! Anyways, the next summer, while i was pregnant with Lyla, Jason decided he wanted to get into this gardening thing also, so away he went and had a garden along the back side of our fence but only to one side, so we had competing gardens that year, well needless to say my garden didnt win that year, i blame it on the heat and being in my last trimester! Then the past 2 years we have just combined our gardens and done away with the competition and i must say its more fun that way! Now for the past 2 years our garden has extended along the whole backside of our fence and around the patio where "my" garden first started. Its so fun to watch everything grow, amazing how something so simple really shows Gods power and beauty!

The picture above was our garden in june last year. This year we have moved things around a little bit and built more trellis. but other than that it pretty much looks the same.

This is my first year to plant sunflowers, and i am so excited about those i can hardly wait for them to blossom! When they do i will post a picture!

In our garden this year we have:
lettuce
sweet potatoes
white potatoes
carrots
beets
okra
green beans
corn
peas
squash
zuccini
cucumbers
tomatos
peppers
black berries
peaches
and many herbs

every year my favorite thing to harvest is green beans, i dont know why but they are just so fun to pick and we get to enjoy them throughout the year.

I'll post pictures of our garden this year soon....stay tuned!
